Erdoğan, Merz review NATO summit priorities in latest phone call
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during which the two sides discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues.
The leaders reviewed the current state of Turkish-German relations and exchanged views on key items on the international agenda, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Erdoğan stressed that Ankara is interested in further developing cooperation with Berlin and expects continued mutual steps to strengthen bilateral ties.
A particular focus of the conversation was the upcoming NATO summit. The Turkish leader expressed hope for strengthening Europe’s defence capabilities within the alliance and maintaining strong transatlantic ties.
Commenting on regional security, Erdoğan also emphasised the need to resume diplomatic efforts between Russia and Ukraine. He said Türkiye continues to work toward restarting negotiations and achieving lasting peace.
