Erdoğan pushes for closer US-Türkiye coordination on global challenges

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called for closer dialogue and coordination with the United States amid ongoing conflicts and crises across the Middle East, as well as developments affecting Africa and Asia. 

Speaking at the “100 Years of Friendship Gala” in New York, an event focused on Türkiye-US relations, Erdoğan said the scale and complexity of these challenges required joint efforts from Ankara and Washington, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

Erdoğan noted that cooperation with the United States had already enabled Türkiye to achieve positive results on a number of issues of global significance. He emphasised that Ankara intends not only to maintain but also to strengthen this cooperation in the period ahead.

The Turkish president also placed particular emphasis on the economic dimension of bilateral relations. Erdoğan argued that the strategic ties between Türkiye and the United States cannot be considered separately from their trade and economic relations. In his view, trade and economic cooperation has become one of the key factors sustaining and advancing the political dialogue between the two countries.

Türkiye plans to further expand trade and economic cooperation with Washington while taking into account regional security challenges and mutual economic interests, according to Erdoğan.
