Erdogan rejects US plan on Gaza, calling it "futile and unworthy of discussion"

10 February 2025 09:40

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticized US President Donald Trump's Gaza plan, dismissing it as a proposal that does not merit Türkiye's attention or discussion.

Erdogan made the remarks on February 9 evening before a visit to Malaysia, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

"The proposals put forward by the new US administration regarding Gaza under the pressure of the Zionist lobby have nothing worthy of attention or discussion from our perspective. These are completely futile, resultless efforts," Erdoğan said.

He added, "No one has the power to remove the people of Gaza from their eternal and eternal homeland that has been around for thousands of years."

"Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Palestine belong to the Palestinians. The people of Gaza, who have not left their lands despite all the cruelty, savagery and attacks of Israel for 471 days, will continue to stay in Gaza, live in Gaza and protect Gaza."

The president stated that any plan to separate Gaza from its people, no matter how it is presented, will ultimately fail.

Erdogan emphasized that true peace, stability, and development in the region can only be achieved by granting Palestinians their rights, not by escalating tensions.

He also announced that in his speech in Malaysia tomorrow, he will outline the necessary steps for the rapid reconstruction of Gaza.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he was considering long-term possession of the Gaza Strip. Reuters reported that the US leader views Gaza as a ‘demolition site’ and considers it ‘inhumane to force people to live on uninhabitable land’, counting on the eventual resettlement of Palestinians from the enclave.
