Erdogan says it is not his rival but him to end terror
Türkiye's incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has pledged to put an end to terror in the country.
He made the remarks speaking at the May 26 rally in Istanbul, Report informs.
"It is we who terminated terrorists in Türkiye, and we will continue our resolute struggle against terrorism. It is we, not Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who can put an end to terrorism in Türkiye," Erdogan added.
He noted that the difference between him and his rival Kilicdaroglu at the presidential elections of May 28 is obvious.
"No one is satisfied with the activity of the Istanbul municipality. As soon as it rains, the life in the city is paralyzed. When you ask where the mayor is, he is either skying in Switzerland or relaxing in Bodrum. We will give the necessary response to CHP both at the May 28 elections and at the municipal elections of 2024," Erdogan said.
The incumbent president also added that the people of Türkiye suffered greatly from political conflicts, and disagreements.
"Kemal Kilicdaroglu is today marching with those who threw the Turkish Constitution out. And we, on the contrary, read our Constitution and act in accordance with it," the Turkish leader said.
He noted that on May 14, they held the largest elections in the history of Türkiye.
"I am grateful to everyone who takes part in voting regardless of who they vote for," Erdogan said.
He noted that the Republican Alliance is represented by 323 MPs in parliament.
"I want to ask Kemal Kilicdaroglu: How are you going to work with this parliament?" Erdogan asked.
"After that, there is only one step left. The Turkish people will not allow ambiguity in the second round. I think our nation will also vote for Recep Tayyip Erdogan on May 28," he concluded.
Türkiye will be heading to runoff presidential elections on May 28. According to the results of the vote count in the first round of the elections on May 14, incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan won 49.51 per cent of the votes, while Kilicdaroglu got 44.88 per cent, Sinan Ogan - 5.17 per cent, and Muharrem Ince - 0.43 per cent.
Since none of the candidates got more than 50 per cent of the votes, Türkiye will hold runoff presidential elections on May 28. Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu will compete for the post.
