Erdoğan, Trump discuss bilateral ties, Syria situation during phone call
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with US President Donald Trump to discuss key issues in Türkiye–US relations, as well as regional and global developments.
Erdoğan highlighted that Türkiye is closely monitoring the situation in Syria, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Turkish Presidency Directorate of Communications.
The leaders also addressed the fight against the terrorist organisation ISIS and the status of its members held in Syrian prisons.
Turkish leader emphasised that Syria’s unity, territorial integrity, and stability remain important for Türkiye. He noted that a peaceful, terror-free, and fully developed Syria would contribute to regional stability.
The discussion also covered ongoing efforts to establish peace in Gaza, with Erdoğan stating that Türkiye will continue coordinating with the US on this issue and thanking Trump for the invitation to the Board of Peace for Gaza.
