Erdoğan: Türkiye’s air defence enters new era with “Steel Dome”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said that Türkiye’s air defence is reaching a new level with the advanced domestically developed system “Steel Dome.”
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony for the Aselsan defence company’s new facilities in Ankara, he noted that no country can be confident about its future amid today’s security challenges without developing its own radar and air defence systems, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
The Turkish leader noted that “this issue is particularly relevant in our region.”
The president announced that with the advanced domestically developed system “Steel Dome,” Türkiye’s air defence will reach a new level.
He emphasised that Aselsan plays a key role in implementing the “Steel Dome” project.
According to him, the company has also developed AI-based management software that will provide instant communication and integrated control of all systems in the field.
He added that the Turkish Armed Forces will be equipped with “Steel Dome” air defence systems, consisting of a total of 47 vehicles. The medium-range Hisar system, the president said, will further strengthen the country’s deterrent capability.
President Erdoğan stressed that Türkiye supplies defence systems developed by its defence industry to friendly and allied countries, thereby also increasing the effectiveness of its diplomacy.
