Erdogan: Zangazur route to increase significance of Türkiye's Agra province
The implementation of the Zangazur corridor will increase the importance of the Turkish province of Agra.
NTV reports that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the remark during his speech at the opening ceremony of the Agra-Hamur-Tutak-Patnos road in the province of Agra in the east of the country.
The head of state drew attention to the achievements of recent decades, stressing that industry and trade are no longer concentrated in separate regions of the country, but are developing in each of Türkiye's 81 provinces. "Exports of products are now established from every province, which confirms the fact that all regions of the country are developing," he stressed.
Erdogan further noted that the threat of terrorism within Türkiye has been minimized and this is also a sign of the development of Eastern Anatolia, including the province of Agra.
"We are determined to restore the historical Silk Road with the requirements of the times. The routes connecting Türkiye with the countries of the Caucasus and further to Central Asia up to China pass directly through the province of Agra in eastern Anatolia. Thanks to the implementation of the Zangazur corridor the importance of Agri province will increase," Erdogan said.
The Turkish president noted that the new 70-km highway has the status of a transport artery of national importance and represents another segment of the historic Silk Road.
