Erdoğan, Zelenskyy confer on Ukraine peace process and cooperation

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed bilateral ties between the two countries, the course of the war in Ukraine, and regional issues during their meeting.

According to a statement issued by the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications on the meeting, Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s readiness to do everything possible to help bring the war between Ukraine and Russia to an end with lasting peace, while Ankara would continue efforts to revive direct negotiations.

The Turkish president stressed the need to take measures to ensure the safety of navigation in the Black Sea, saying attacks on commercial vessels were unacceptable and expressing hope that all sides would act responsibly.

Erdoğan also noted that Türkiye would continue taking steps to develop Turkish-Ukrainian relations, adding that expanding cooperation in various areas, particularly energy, mining and the defence industry, would benefit both countries.
