EU adds three more Russian MPs to sanctions lists

The European Union has included two MPs from the State Duma (Parliament) and one member of the Federation Council of Russia's Federal Assembly in the sanctions lists.

MPs from State Duma Alla Polyakova and Anton Tkachev, as well as Senator Valery Ponomarev, fell under the sanctions, Interfax reports, citing the EU Official Journal.

The inclusion of the MPs in the list is explained by their support for the recognition of the "independence" of Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Restrictive measures come into force today, September 1.
