EU discusses ninth package of anti-Russian sanctions
The countries of the European Union (EU) are discussing the introduction of the ninth package of sanctions against Russia.
The introduction of a price ceiling for Russian gas is not yet considered, a source in the delegation of one of the member states of the EU Council, TASS reports.
“Yes, there is already discussion of a new round of sanctions against Russia after another escalation, which we saw on October 10,” the source said, without clarifying which restrictions are under discussion.
On October 6, the EU countries approved the eighth package of anti-Russian sanctions. The ban on the import of steel products from Russia was extended, the export of coal, plastic, chemicals, the provision of IT services and legal services to Russian organizations was prohibited. In the new package of sanctions, the European Commission plegded to remove the “loophole” for circumventing them.
On October 10, Russia launched a massive strike against Ukraine. The targets are claimed to be energy facilities, military command and communications facilities. According to the latest data, 19 people were killed, and more than 100 were injured.
