"Armenia's diplomatic relations with Pakistan already in place" Yerevan counters TASS report
The Armenian Foreign Ministry has reacted to a TASS report claiming that “Pakistan intends to recognise Armenia as a UN member state, which would clear the way for its accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).”
Speaking to the press, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan said, “We inform uninformed sources that diplomatic relations between Armenia and Pakistan have already been established in accordance with the fundamental principles of the UN Charter. Therefore, the question of ‘recognition at the UN’ is naturally not on the agenda," Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
In developing bilateral cooperation, the two countries will also discuss issues related to engagement on multilateral platforms, whether it is the SCO, the EAEU, or any other structure of mutual interest.”
On August 31, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with his Pakistani counterpart, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in China. Following the talks, the two ministers signed a communiqué establishing diplomatic relations.
On August 8 in Washington, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia initialled a peace agreement, after which both sides announced the establishment of peace in the region.
