Russia restricts vessel anchorage at Kavkaz and Azov ports

21 July 2026 17:29

Russia’s Ministry of Transport has imposed restrictions on vessel anchorage in the ports of Kavkaz and Azov, citing security-related considerations, according to official documents published on the government’s legal information portal.

The measures prohibit ships from anchoring in areas where air defence is not organised by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The rules also restrict the operation of vessels with malfunctioning communication equipment.

“Anchorage of vessels at anchorage points in areas without air defence organised by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, navigation of vessels with faulty communication equipment,” the documents state.

The restrictions apply to designated approaches to the affected ports, though several nearby port areas have been explicitly excluded.

According to the documents, the waters and access routes of the seaport of Taganrog, as well as those of the seaport of Yeysk, are not included within the restricted zone for the approaches to the port of Azov.

Similarly, for the port of Kavkaz, the waters and approaches of the seaport of Temryuk are excluded from the scope of the restrictions.
