Iranian FM blasts Israel’s “strategic mistake,” calls for mutual respect in talks

09 September 2025 14:03

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that both the United States and Israel have come to recognize the futility of a military approach toward Iran, urging instead a path forward grounded in mutual respect and shared interests.

Speaking at a high-level gathering during the 39th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, Araghchi condemned recent hostilities and emphasized the strategic miscalculations of Israel and its allies, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.

“The Zionist regime miscalculated when it thought a surprise attack could force Iran into retreat. They made a major strategic mistake,” Araghchi stated, underscoring Iran’s resilience in the face of mounting external pressures.

He emphasized a growing consensus among Iran’s adversaries. “The US and its allies have now reached the conclusion that there is no military solution for the issue of Iran,” he said. “The only possible path is fair diplomacy based on mutual respect and securing common interests. The Islamic Republic of Iran has never abandoned the negotiating table and has always been ready for honorable and fair dialogue.”

Araghchi also addressed broader regional dynamics, highlighting unity among Iran’s diverse communities in the face of external aggression. “Iran’s enemies had counted on creating divisions, but the 12-day imposed war showed that there is no distinction between Shiite and Sunni Muslims or Arab and Persian people when it comes to defending the country under the single identity of Iran,” he affirmed.
