EU imports of Russian knitwear hit 25-year high
17 September 2026 12:26
The European Union has sharply increased imports of Russian knitted clothing, with purchases reaching their highest level in 25 years.
In July 2026 alone, Russia exported more than €1 million worth of sweaters, pullovers, cardigans and other knitted garments to European markets.
Italy emerged as the largest buyer, while cashmere products accounted for the biggest share of the shipments.
The surge comes despite broader restrictions on trade between Russia and the EU, highlighting the continued presence of certain Russian goods on European markets.
