EU not dependent on Gulf oil, foreign policy chief assures
European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas has assured that the EU is not reliant on oil supplies from Gulf countries and is not experiencing a fuel shortage despite rising tensions in the Middle East.
Speaking to journalists ahead of an online meeting between EU foreign ministers and their Gulf counterparts, Kallas emphasized that while potential increases in global energy prices could have broader economic effects, there is currently no cause for panic, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
She added that EU nations are strengthening their naval presence in the region and implementing measures to safeguard commercial shipping, which has come under strain amid the recent escalation.
Kallas said that the aim was to ensure the security and freedom of trade routes while mitigating any disruption to energy supplies, underscoring the EU’s proactive approach to regional stability.
