EU to impose sanctions against Iran on charges of supplying drones to Russia
The EU countries have agreed to impose new sanctions against Iran.
They will affect three individuals and five companies. The decision is connected with accusations against Tehran over supplying drones to Moscow, Kommersant reports.
"In record time, after three days of discussions, the EU permanent representatives agreed on measures against companies supplying Iranian drones that struck Ukraine. The written procedure has been completed, the sanctions will come into force this afternoon after publication in the official journal," the permanent mission of the Czech Republic, which holds the presidency of the European Union, said on Twitter.
Sanctions will be imposed against four new defendants: three individuals and one organisation. The restrictions will also be extended to four organisations against which sanctions have already been imposed. Getting on the sanctions list implies a ban on entry into the EU and freezing of assets.
