European Commission to assess Georgia's progress towards EU membership by late May
The European Commission will present an interim assessment of the implementation of the 12 recommendations for Georgia's EU candidate status by the end of spring.
"As in the case of all countries involved in the enlargement policy, the pace of progress towards the EU depends on the implementation of key reforms. In spring 2023, the Commission will orally update the Council on Georgia's implementation of the 12 priorities," News-Georgia quotes European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Oliver Varhelyi as saying.
The assessment will be made available following a request from 20 Georgian civil society organisations to make the assessment public.
Earlier, it was planned that the preliminary assessment would be presented in Brussels in a closed format.
