Ex-police chief appointed minister of interior of Armenia

Vahe Ghazaryan, the current head of the Armenian Police, has been appointed head of Armenia's newly established Interior Ministry.

A decree to that effect was signed by Armenian President Vahagn Khachatryan on January 9, following a proposal by the Prime Minister, Sputnik Armenia reports.

Ghazaryan had been in charge of the police since June 8, 2020. It will now be part of a "superministry" along with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Rescue Service.
