Ex-prime minister: Armenian people continue to be impoverished
Ex-Prime Minister of Armenia Hrant Bagratyan has said that the Russians who came to Armenia brought with them about eight billion dollars.
As Caliber.Az reports he made the remarks before the court session on the case of ex-commander of the 3rd Army Corps of the Armenian Armed Forces Grigory Khachaturov.
According to him, 120,000 Russians arrived in Armenia, and about 11,000 left the country.
“They brought about $8 billion with them. Approximately half of this amount has already been taken out of our country, the rest is being taken out,” Bagratyan said.
At the same time, the loan portfolio of banks increased, which allowed them to give new loans to both developers and future home buyers, Bagratyan noted.
With all this, the people in Armenia, according to him, continue to become impoverished. In particular, this applies to pensioners (who live 22 per cent worse than in 2018). Poverty has increased from 24.5 per cent to 27 per cent.
Earlier, Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia Martin Galstyan said that the Russians are ready to stay in Armenia for a long time.
