Explosion at military training ground in Uzbekistan injures 10 soldiers
A minor explosion occurred on September 10 during a live training exercise at a military training ground in Nukus, Uzbekistan, resulting in injuries to ten servicemen, says an official statement by the National Guard of Uzbekistan.
The incident resulted from the inadvertent premature activation of a detonating cord connected to a specialized explosive device designed exclusively for training operations. The explosion, described as “small,” nonetheless led to ten soldiers sustaining injuries of varying degrees, Caliber.Az reports, citing Uzbek media.
Eight of the injured personnel have been admitted to hospital for further medical treatment. Authorities confirmed that all victims received immediate first aid on-site and their conditions are steadily improving thanks to prompt medical intervention.
In response to the incident, an official investigation has been launched to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the explosion. Senior military officials are overseeing the inquiry and conducting a thorough review of safety protocols and operational procedures at the training facility.
