Explosion in Dagestan triggers fire in five houses

A fire has broken out in a private house in the village of Kundy in Russia’s Laksky district in the Republic of Dagestan, with flames spreading to four nearby residential buildings.

According to local district authorities, the preliminary cause of the incident was an explosion of a gas cylinder.

Officials said only one person lived in the house where the fire began. The homeowner managed to escape and was not injured. The other four houses were unoccupied at the time of the incident.

The fire has since been brought under control, though the affected area has not been specified. Electricity in the surrounding zone has been cut off as a precaution.
