F1: Verstappen dominates Las Vegas GP to keep title hopes alive
A Dutch and Belgian racing driver, Max Verstappen, claimed a commanding victory at the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix, keeping his championship bid alive as Lando Norris finished second and George Russell third. Oscar Piastri secured fourth after Kimi Antonelli received a post-race penalty.
Verstappen overtook pole-sitter Norris at Turn 1 and gradually extended his lead, especially after switching to hard tyres mid-race, Caliber.Az reports, citing the website of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
Norris, forced into fuel-saving in the closing laps, crossed the line 20 seconds behind Verstappen, with Russell a further three seconds back.
Key incidents included retirements for Gabriel Bortoleto and Lance Stroll, while Charles Leclerc moved up from P9 to finish sixth. Kimi Antonelli climbed from 17th to fourth before a penalty dropped him behind Piastri.
With two races and a final Sprint remaining, Verstappen’s sixth win of the season brings him to 366 points—12 behind Piastri and 42 behind Norris.
