Family feud turns into "thieves-in-law" showdown in Yerevan

A bizarre confrontation involving two so-called “thieves-in-law” and a former son-in-law has unfolded in Armenia.

A 58-year-old “thief-in-law” residing in Gyumri contacted a 56-year-old “thief-in-law” from Oshakan on September 21 after learning that his former son-in-law had quarreled with his daughter. He allegedly asked the Oshakan crime figure to punish the man, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The 56-year-old arrived with several associates on Hrachya Nersisyan Street in Yerevan. However, the former son-in-law refused to submit to the punishment and instead confronted the group himself.

According to reports, the two sides exchanged insults and blows before the confrontation eventually ended. The circumstances surrounding the outcome remain unclear.

The former son-in-law then reportedly went with his associates to a Yerevan hotel, allegedly intending to retaliate against his former father-in-law. Police said he “was unable to complete the crime due to circumstances beyond his control.”

Both “thieves-in-law” were detained and taken to investigative authorities, according to police.
