Famous Tour de France commentator dies following accident at bullfighting festival
The well-known sports commentator Guillaume Di Grazia has died following an accident during a bullfighting festival in the French Gard region.
The correspondent, who worked for many years as a cycling commentator for Eurosport, died at the age of 52 this week, Caliber.Az reports citing the publication.
He died two days after being injured in an accident during a bullfighting event in France. He joined Eurosport in 1999 and was the Tour de France commentator in France for 25 years, while also working on football, biathlon, and ski jumping competitions.
"We have learned with sadness of Guillaume’s passing," his former employer, for whom he also covered other sports, said. "Guillaume was a member of the Eurosport editorial team for 26 years and was a unique, visionary, and passionate journalist who left a lasting mark on the history of the channel."
Di Grazia left the channel this summer after he was suspended for “inappropriate behaviour" towards a colleague.
