13 July 2024 14:36

In Mugla province, southwest Türkiye, a devastating incident unfolded as a bus carrying tourists overturned in the Akyaka neighbourhood.

The accident occurred when a bus, transporting local tourists on a day trip, experienced brake failure, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.

The bus collided with three parked vehicles in Akyaka town before crashing into the wall of a nearby house. The impact of the collision caused two fatalities and left 28 individuals injured, with four of them in serious condition.

In the chaotic aftermath, some passengers were ejected from the bus due to the force of the collision, while others were trapped inside. Eyewitnesses promptly alerted emergency services, prompting swift responses from medical teams and firefighters who arrived at the scene within minutes. The injured were quickly transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment.

Initial investigations have indicated that brake failure was likely the primary cause of the tragic accident. Authorities continue to investigate further to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
