The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating a series of cyberattacks targeting leading US law firms.
Chinese hackers may be behind the breaches, The New York Times reports via sources.
Williams & Connolly notified clients about unauthorised access to part of its IT systems, though the extent of the damage and the specific data affected have not been disclosed.
The FBI declined to comment on the matter.
Williams & Connolly is recognised for its politically powerful clients and a distinguished roster of trial attorneys.
The firm has represented Bill and Hillary Clinton, various corporate entities in technology, healthcare, and media sectors, as well as white-collar criminal figures such as Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes.
