Fierce battles continue in Gaza New hostage deal seems unreal/VIDEO

20 February 2024 13:58

The Israeli army continues fighting in the north, centre and south of the Gaza Strip. Many militants have been eliminated over the past 24 hours.

The troops continue fierce battles in western Khan Yunis and eliminated dozens of terrorists during the day, Caliber.Az reports citing the IDF Press Service.

The air force, tanks and snipers were involved.

Soldiers in Khan Younis identified a group of militants who were armed with a Kalashnikov RPG. The militants were eliminated in close combat.

Intelligence from the 98th Division directed the Air Force to a Hamas weapons depot near Khan Younis. The warehouse was destroyed. Secondary explosions were recorded.

Hamas Politburo member Khalil al-Haya has said that the Palestinian Hamas movement will not agree to a prisoner exchange agreement until Israel stops its aggression in the Gaza Strip and releases Palestinian prisoners from its jails.

"The return of the captives of the (Israeli) occupation forces has three prices. The first is the liberation of our people and their return to normal life. The second is an end to the aggression, and the third is a real prisoner exchange agreement that will result in the release of 10,000,000 of our prisoners from Israeli prisons," he said.

For now, he said, Israel refuses to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and will not allow displaced Palestinians to return to their homes.

Earlier, Israel rejected a three-phase Hamas plan that included a ceasefire and a mutual exchange of prisoners.
