Panic in northern Moscow as fire engulfs hostel, car service centre PHOTO
A fire broke out in a building in northern Moscow that houses a car service center on the lower floors and a hostel above, located on 1st Magistralny Dead End.
According to preliminary reports, the blaze has consumed the fourth floor of the building. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as residents inside prepared to jump from windows to escape the flames. At least ten people are believed to be trapped inside.
“Eyewitnesses report that those inside are calling for help and are throwing mattresses down so they can jump safely from the fourth-floor windows. Emergency services are on site,” according to the Telegram channel SHOT.
Rescue teams have already evacuated seven people, while details regarding injuries are still being confirmed. The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage remain under investigation.
