Fire spreads through roof of residential complex in central Moscow VIDEO

A fire at the “Dom na Strastnom Boulevard” residential complex in central Moscow has spread to the attic, increasing the total area affected to 200 square metres, emergency services told TASS.

Firefighters discovered a new source of the blaze after opening the roof, with flames spreading through the wooden roof structure. Efforts to extinguish the fire have been complicated by difficult access to the space beneath the roof.

Emergency crews are also checking apartments in the complex, and one woman has been evacuated.

A TASS correspondent at the scene reported seeing flames emerging from beneath the roof, while a column of grey smoke rose above the building.
