Firefighters battle wildfire in Türkiye’s Antalya for second day PHOTO

Emergency crews in southern Türkiye fought for a second consecutive day to contain a rugged forest fire in the Kaş district of Antalya province, state broadcaster TRT Haber reported.

The fire broke out early in the morning in the Üzümlü neighbourhood, quickly spreading across steep and rocky terrain that hindered ground access. Firefighters worked through the night under difficult conditions to create containment lines along the treacherous slopes.

A force of 155 personnel equipped with 26 fire engines, nine water tankers, and five rapid-response vehicles has been deployed to combat the blaze on the ground. As daylight returned, aerial firefighting units — including specialised aeroplanes and helicopters — resumed water-bombing runs to suppress active flames in hard-to-reach areas.

Response teams continue coordinated operations from both the air and ground to bring the wildfire under control and prevent its spread to surrounding settlements.
