FM: Ankara pursuing visa regime simplification with EU

Ankara is actively pursuing discussions with the European Union to streamline the visa process for Turkish citizens.

According to TRT Haber, Hakan Fidan, the head of Türkiye's Foreign Ministry, emphasized the importance of advancing this mechanism further.

He revealed discussions with Oliver Varhelyi, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy, noting an agreement in principle but emphasizing the need for more substantive action.

Fidan highlighted the significance of visa facilitation, particularly for business representatives and students.

He mentioned that Türkiye has about five remaining issues to address regarding the visa matter.
