FM Araghchi: US operation aimed at undermining talks with Iran
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told ABC News that the US military operation resulted from a deliberate campaign to disrupt negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
“And it was very unfortunate that those who are against peace, against diplomacy, against negotiation, when they understood that diplomacy is going on well, they decided to spoil it, and they created a buildup in the media, against the Islamic Republic of Iran," Araghchi said, adding that ultimately they convinced President Donald Trump to carry out this unprovoked and unjustified attack.
He emphasised that Iran was committed to constructive dialogue, but external forces deliberately misrepresented Tehran’s intentions to draw the US into military confrontation.
According to Araghchi, the intense information campaign ultimately achieved its goal, derailing a path to a peace agreement that had seemed possible.
