FM: Armenia, US preparing to elevate strategic partnership
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan will visit the US for a two-day working trip.
During his visit on January 14-15, Mirzoyan will hold a series of meetings with US officials, including US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
On January 8, during a press conference, Mirzoyan stated that representatives of Armenia and the US are preparing a meeting to discuss a document on strategic partnership.
"We agreed to elevate the level of our strategic dialogue to a strategic partnership. Relevant documents are under discussion," he said.
Mirzoyan added that a meeting is planned to be held between senior officials from Armenia and the US, and the outcomes will be announced after the discussions.
Earlier, during the Capstone meeting, Armenia and the US reviewed progress on strengthening bilateral relations and outlined a vision for deepening ties, to be formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding, to upgrade the status of bilateral dialogue to a Strategic Partnership Commission.
The sides positively assessed cooperation to support Armenia’s ongoing reforms and democratic progress and noted Armenia’s aspirations for closer cooperation with Euro-Atlantic institutions and the West.
