FM Bochorishvili: Ukraine seeking closer ties with Tbilisi
Ukraine’s authorities have moved to intensify relations with Georgia, taking into account Tbilisi’s position as a key connecting hub in the region, according to Georgia’s foreign minister.
Maka Bochorishvili, Georgia’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister, said in an interview with the Imedi television channel that the renewed engagement from Kyiv reflects broader regional dynamics.
“The context of the Ukrainian side’s increased engagement is the role of Georgia as a connecting link and the significant opportunities that exist for our neighbouring states,” she said.
She added that interest in strengthening ties with Georgia has recently been expressed by many countries, suggesting that Ukraine is part of this wider trend.
“It is therefore easy to explain why they now need the normalisation of relations with Georgia,” Bochorishvili said.
