FM: Estonia to refuse Russian gas from 2023
29 September 2022 20:35
Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu has said that the Estonian government has adopted a resolution according to which, as a restrictive measure against Moscow, Estonia will ban the purchase of natural gas from Russia from January 1, 2023.
Reinsalu made the remarks at a press conference in Tallinn on September 29, according to Interfax news agency.
“Estonia will impose a national sanction on Russian gas from January 1, 2023. The purpose of the sanctions is to put pressure on Russia to stop its military aggression against Ukraine, as natural gas is an important source of income for Russia and is used as leverage on the EU,” he said.
