FM: Iran's military action ends, but retaliation looms if Israel responds
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi announced that the country's military operation against Israel has ended but cautioned that a stronger retaliation would follow if Israel responds.
"Earlier this evening, we exercised self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter, targeting solely military & security sites in charge of genocide in Gaza and Lebanon," Aragchi stated on X page, Caliber.Az reports.
“We did so after exercising tremendous restraint for almost two months, to give space for a ceasefire in Gaza,” he added.
Araqchi emphasised that Iran's actions are concluded unless the Israeli regime provokes further retaliation. "In that scenario, our response will be stronger and more powerful," he warned.
He also highlighted the responsibility of Israel's allies, stating,
“Israel's enablers now have a heightened responsibility to rein in the warmongers in Tel Aviv instead of getting involved in their folly”
Notably, on October 1 evening, Iran retaliated against the Israeli assassination of key figures, including Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, by launching up to 200 ballistic missiles at Israeli military and intelligence sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.
