FM Mirzoyan discusses Washington agreements’ implementation with Armenian ambassadors
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Armenia’s ambassadors accredited abroad in Kapan and discussed the implementation of the agreements reached in Washington on August 8 between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the United States.
According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Mirzoyan referred to the initialled agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, emphasising the importance of the established peace for Armenia and the region, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
He outlined the vision of Armenia’s foreign policy in these new circumstances, the newly opened opportunities, and the work that needs to be carried out to implement them.
Minister Mirzoyan stressed that the consistent implementation of the peace agenda in the region and ensuring a stable, safe, and prosperous environment for the citizens of Armenia are the government’s primary tasks, including those of the diplomatic service.
Ararat Mirzoyan also addressed the opportunities arising from the unblocking of regional communications, efforts to ensure Armenia’s effective participation in the expanding network of international connectivity, and the upcoming work to implement the trilateral declaration signed for this purpose in Washington.
On August 8, US President Donald Trump hosted Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the White House for a historic signing ceremony that marked a breakthrough in the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process. The agreement, described as a joint declaration, outlined steps toward normalising relations between the two nations. A central element of the deal is the establishment of the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP), also called the Zangezur corridor, a 27-mile (43 km) transit corridor through Armenia’s Syunik province, connecting mainland Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave, which borders Türkiye and Iran.
