FM: Türkiye reiterates opposition to military intervention against Iran

Türkiye is closely monitoring developments in Iran, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on January 30 at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Istanbul.

Fidan said Iran’s security was important for both Türkiye and the wider region, stressing the need to reduce tensions between Tehran and Washington and to work toward the normalisation of relations, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media. 

He reiterated Ankara’s opposition to any military intervention against Iran, warning that such action could pose serious risks at both regional and global levels.

According to Fidan, Türkiye believes existing disputes should be addressed through dialogue and negotiations rather than force.

He said Ankara supports efforts to find a peaceful solution to the issue of Iran’s nuclear programme as soon as possible and signalled that Türkiye is prepared to contribute to de-escalation efforts and offer assistance if required.
