FM: Western countries still consider Russia – threat, adversary
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that the West still sets the task of destroying Russia and is not going to lay down its arms.
Lavrov made these remarks during “Big Game” show on Channel One Russia.
“The West has such a task. From time to time, according to Freud, both European and US politicians have a firm intention not to lay down their arms under any circumstances, not to give up and destroy Russia,” Lavrov said.
The foreign minister noted that Western countries still consider Russia a threat and an adversary.
He recalled the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who said that the West wanted to destroy Russia after the collapse of the USSR, citing the naivety of the Russian politicians during that period.
“We have been gullible for many years, and more than once we saw that the West is dishonest. However, every time, probably according to the tradition of our people, we always hoped for the best, we forgave, we decided not to make a scandal, but we have already made the situation clear,” Lavrov added.
