Foreign Minister Dar: India-Pakistan security advisers in contact
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed that contact has been established between the national security advisers of India and Pakistan.
Dar also stated that the military hotline between the directors general of military operations (DGMOs) from both countries remains operational, Caliber.Az reports per Pakistani media.
Speaking separately to Turkish media, the foreign minister said Pakistan is prepared to respond to any act of aggression from India “in a befitting manner.”
He accused New Delhi of attempting to escalate military tensions to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty.
“Pakistan has the right (to retaliate) because last night, perhaps it needs clarification, we did not take escalatory mode or move. We only acted in defence,” Dar said.
To recall, as of May 8, 2025, tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated sharply following a terrorist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 26 Hindu tourists. India responded with "Operation Sindoor," conducting airstrikes on what it identified as terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and cities like Bahawalpur and Muzaffarabad.
Pakistan reported civilian casualties, including 31 deaths and 57 injuries, and claimed to have downed five Indian jets in retaliation.
The conflict has intensified along the Line of Control, with Pakistan shooting down 25 Indian drones over major cities and both sides engaging in artillery exchanges. India has suspended flights from over two dozen airports near the border, disrupting travel and raising concerns about broader conflict.
Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif warned of a "clear and present" nuclear threat, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed retaliation.
