Foreign minister, ruling party members to represent Türkiye at Berlusconi's funeral

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesman Ömer Çelik will attend the funeral of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Fidan and Celik will attend the politician's funeral, which will be held in Rome on June 14, sources within the AKP told Anadolu.

Silvio Berlusconi, former Italian prime minister and founder of the Forza Italia party, died in a clinic in Milan on June 12 at the age of 86.

The politician, who had long been considered Italy's most prominent public figure, was four times elected head of government (1994-1995, 2001-2005, 2005-2006, 2008-2011).

Berlusconi was the longest-serving prime minister in postwar Italy. In total, he led the government for 3,339 days.
