Former Armenian PM’s son detained in contract killing probe VIDEO
Argam Abrahamyan, the son of former Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan and a former member of parliament, has been detained in connection with an alleged contract killing, Armenia’s Investigative Committee said.
Abrahamyan and the former head of the Artashat municipality are accused of organising the killing of Pastor S.V. of the “Christians of the Evangelical Faith” organisation, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
The killing took place on April 30, 2023, near a residential building on Myasnikyan Avenue in Yerevan, according to investigators.
Abrahamyan is also the son-in-law of businessman and opposition Prosperous Armenia party leader Gagik Tsarukyan.
Investigators allege that Abrahamyan suspected his wife of having a personal relationship with the pastor and of transferring large sums of money to him.
According to the Investigative Committee, investigators believe Abrahamyan sought revenge and ordered his bodyguard, identified as G.H., to carry out the killing. The bodyguard allegedly shot the pastor.
