Former Armenian President Kocharyan blocked from leaving country
Former Armenian President and leader of the pro-Russian Armenia bloc, Robert Kocharyan, was unable to leave the country after a travel ban was imposed on him.
The politician learned of the restriction on Sunday, June 14, when he attempted to board a flight at Yerevan Airport, according to his office.
"At Zvartnots Airport, Robert Kocharyan was prohibited from leaving the country without any explanation," media outlets quoted Kocharyan’s chief of staff, Bagrat Mikoyan, as saying.
Kocharyan’s office stated that he had planned to take a short trip unrelated to his professional activities. His representatives did not disclose the intended destination.
Earlier, the office had reported that Kocharyan was planning a three-day trip abroad for personal reasons and that the visit had been arranged in advance.
