Former Armenian ruling party spokesperson appointed deputy foreign minister
Upon the decision of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, 28-year-old Vahan Kostanyan has been appointed Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia.
According to Sputnik Armenia, the document was published on the government website on January 26. Prior to his appointment, Kostanyan was an adviser to Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, accompanying him on almost all foreign trips.
After the Velvet Revolution, Kostanyan was the head of the office of the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan. Later he became the press secretary of the ruling Civil Contract party.
He was then promoted to assistant to Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan. After the appointment of the latter as the Foreign Minister in August 2021, Mirzoyan took Kostanyan to his new office putting him in charge of a ministerial adviser.
