Former Armenian security chief turns down Pashinyan’s job offer

13 August 2026 14:28

Former Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan has declined an offer to take up a position in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s office.

Pashinyan said during a government briefing that he had offered Grigoryan a position in the prime minister’s office, but that the former Security Council secretary appeared to have decided to take a break from public service, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

“I understand and respect his decision,” Pashinyan said.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a decision dismissing Armen Grigoryan as Secretary of the country’s National Security Council.

According to Armenian media, in a separate decision, Pashinyan officially appointed Alen Simonyan as the new Secretary of Armenia’s National Security Council.
