Vardan Harutyunyan, the former Chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee (SRC), has been arrested on charges including money laundering, illegal entrepreneurship, and anti-competitive practices, authorities confirmed to Armenpress.
The Anti-Corruption Committee stated that Harutyunyan is currently under investigation, although further details have not yet been officially disclosed.
Unconfirmed media reports suggest the inquiry may be linked to a company named Norfolk.
Harutyunyan led the SRC from 2016 to 2018. Before his tenure at the tax authority, he served as general director of Gazprom Armenia.
