Former Ijevan mayor, his son detained in Armenia on corruption charges
Varuzhan Nersisyan, the former mayor of Ijevan, Armenia, has been detained on charges of money laundering and abuse of office, according to the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia.
His son has also been arrested in connection with the same case, as per multiple Armenian media sources, quoted by Caliber.Az.
The committee confirmed the detentions, noting that the investigation is ongoing.
As part of the legal proceedings, the Anti-Corruption Court has accepted a lawsuit filed by the Prosecutor General's Office seeking the confiscation of assets acquired through illicit means. The assets under scrutiny include:

Five real estate properties located in the Tavush region.

Participation in four legal entities, suggesting involvement in various business ventures.

181,770,000 Armenian drams (approximately $71,000 USD) in illicit funds.

108,883,000 Armenian drams (approximately $41,000 USD) in unsupported income and funds transferred to third parties.
