Four miners pulled from rubble in Türkiye mine collapse PHOTO
A mine collapse in Türkiye’s Kilimli district of Zonguldak province has left one worker trapped underground, while four others have been successfully rescued, authorities confirmed on September 25.
The incident occurred 263 meters below the surface at the Karadon Enterprise mine, operated by the state-run Turkish Hard Coal Enterprise (TTK). The collapse took place near the chimney section of the furnace area, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.
Emergency response teams—including health services, fire units, gendarmerie, and TTK rescue crews—were quickly dispatched to the site. Rescue teams entered the mine from the nearby Gelik Enterprise, which offered faster access to the affected area.
Four of the five trapped miners have been pulled from the rubble. One of the rescued workers, who sustained minor injuries, was taken to Zonguldak Atatürk State Hospital for treatment.
Efforts remain underway to reach and rescue the fifth worker still trapped underground.
