Four workers killed under freight train in Kazakhstan
Four workers lost their lives in an accident on the railway in Kazakhstan's central region on December 10. The incident occurred on the Moyynty-Shyganak section of the national railway, specifically on the Sheshenkara-Karazhangyl stretch, according to Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the country's state-owned railway company.
The workers, part of a maintenance crew from the Saryshagan station, were conducting scheduled repair work to replace a rail when the accident took place. Despite the efforts of the train driver, who activated the emergency brakes upon spotting the workers on the track, the collision could not be avoided, and the four individuals suffered fatal injuries, Caliber.Az reports via Kazakh media.
In response to the incident, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy has established a special commission to investigate the cause of the tragedy. The commission, led by the company’s chief engineer, includes representatives from the mainline network directorate and the Freight Transport company. A team was immediately dispatched to the scene to begin the investigation.
