French consulate in Armenia to engage in intelligence - expert
The French consulate in Armenia shows that this country, having lost its role in Africa, wants to gain influence in the South Caucasus to sell it to somebody else, PhD in History and expert on Türkiye Varuzhan Geghamyan has said.
“Moreover, France is the main negotiator of the West in Armenia because it has a positive perception in Armenia, although historically there is no basis for this,” Geghamyan said during an interview with 168 Zham newspaper, Caliber.Az says.
“Now this country wants to have a consulate in Syunik [Zangezur] to render non-consular services. It is obvious that the consulate will have a purely military, intelligence purpose, which will serve the West. Syunik is one of 2-3 most important points in the Middle East, where everyone plays their roles,” he added.
